Men’s yoga group

Why would a female teacher run this ?

This weekend we’re finally starting something I’ve wanted to do for ages a men’s wellbeing group in our lovely new space at Bayfield Brecks.

I double posted about this on my instagram and then typical me thought I have so much more to say around my why for this I will bangout a blog.

And despite a few cheeky comments rest assured this is not me on the hunt for a new fella for myself, far from it !

Seriously, I have wanted to run this for ages, but I was struggling to find the right time and space for it. I trust the timing it is here.

As an ex-copper, I really enjoyed my 17 years in the Metropolitan Police, working with the men I worked with. I’m still friends with many of them, and they were incredible humans, very brave and courageous.

I was in the minority for years and had such a laugh.

I also had some very serious conversations with some of them when they were struggling. They would often come and chat with me, and I genuinely get the pressure men are under in life.

At the moment, there is some very harsh dialogue around men in society. I am definitely not excusing any behaviour that is abusive at all, far from it.

Having worked in one of the toughest environments around, it was utter chaos some days policing in London. Emotionally you had to suppress so much to get through. There were moments that were far from easy for me. It has taken me a lot of work to soften from this, it is still a work in progress.

On the whole, I had a really great working relationship with the majority of the men I worked with.

Over the last five years, my marriage failed as my husband battled with high-functioning anxiety and found it difficult to deal with the transition from being the CEO of his own successful insurance brokerage in London to retirement in Norfolk.

I am not blaming our marriage break down on this entirely I completely put my hands up to the fact I was changing at a rate of knots in this marriage too and the result was our paths no longer aligned.

I think I hold a unique perspective, and I hope I can help men in Norfolk find some genuine community and connection. It is needed, I feel. In fact, I kind of know it.

I’m also pretty certain we will have a laugh too!

Supporting men’s mental wellbeing over the winter months and beyond is something I am deeply passionate about.

Please share if you can. This group will heal my heart too. 🙏🏼

We have taken some bookings and I can tell this is going to be a vibe!

We start this Sunday at 10.30am at Bayfield Brecks.
