WORKING TO AWAKEN THE INNER BUDDHA WITH MASTER VIDHI

I first met Master Vidhi during a yoga teacher training in Goa. I remember sitting in the Mandala Café when this tall Indian man walked in—carrying a giant stick, with a bird calmly perched on his shoulder. Naturally, I thought… interesting.

Later that day, someone mentioned they’d just had a chakra healing session—with the very same man. They described the experience as intense and powerful. Something in me lit up. I felt called to seek him out.

And so I did.

The First Healing

That first chakra healing session was something I’ll never forget. I’d never experienced anything quite like it. It felt like he was mopping out my chakras—clearing emotional and energetic blockages that had built up over time.

But healing like this isn’t instant. It’s not a massage or a quick fix. It’s a beginning. I came out of the session floating, feeling lovely and light, wondering if I was approaching samadhi… only to be gently (but very firmly) told, “Clare , this is blocked. That’s blocked. And let’s talk about your relationship with your parents and your marriage .” eek !

Oh dear. The truth was out. He could see me.

Going Deeper

I continued the work with Vidhi. I booked a full-day session—a kind of life counselling meets energetic excavation. We talked through the whole of my life story. It was super intense and exhausting, but it brought deep clarity.

He gave me a personal practice plan to begin healing from the root chakra—the foundation of how we feel safe, grounded, and present in the world. One of the tools he gave me was mirror work.

This involved standing naked in front of the mirror, looking myself in the eyes, and saying, “I love you.” Not just once, but over and over again, every day, with specific mantras and self love chat.

The first time I tried it, I nearly vomited. No lie. I wanted to run away. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I have done some tough stuff. Some days, I still can’t do it. Our perception of our self, body image and self talk is everything.

Slowly, that practice shifted something. I began to show up differently for myself. I felt more self-belief. Less judgment. More grounded.

Unexpected Healing

He also asked me to reconnect with my adopted sister—and to tell my mum and dad that I loved them. Every day.

In a family where we don’t say that kind of thing out loud very often, it was challenging. But again, it created powerful shifts in how we relate to one another.

Healing doesn’t always look how you expect. Sometimes it’s quiet. Awkward. Humbling. But it works—if you’re willing to do the uncomfortable work and it is uncomfortable.

Why This Matters

All of this has taught me that healing isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up, regularly, even when you feel messy and uncertain. It’s yoga, journaling, crying, laughing, forgiving, moving, connecting—returning to yourself again and again. As well as giving your self love, compassion and grace on the days you just can’t.

And yes, there are still days I struggle. I still have blocks. I still fall apart sometimes. But these practices give me something solid to come back to. They create a life where bliss and joy have room to return. We can keep healing and healing and healing but at some point it is also ok to stop and just do what you can to live in gratitude and enjoy your life. We are not here for long.
