I am the storm yoga is leaving the magic of the mill

It’s been quite a journey for us over the past two years , one filled with magic, synchronicity and a deep sense of alignment. I’ve never felt more connected to the work we’re doing.
At the start of this year, though, something shifted. We realised our time at Letheringsett Water Mill was coming to an end.
It wasn’t a decision we made lightly. We spent a long time sitting with it, asking ourselves whether we should continue at all or whether this chapter had reached its natural conclusion.
Behind the scenes, last year was one of the most challenging of my life. Alongside learning how to run a business, I was navigating a difficult year personally.
Despite that, the studio grew beyond anything I could have imagined.
We now have an incredible team around us, a beautiful community that continues to grow, and together we generated £67,000 turnover last year, as a profit for purpose, the new way of saying non profit! which isn’t bad considering two years ago I was taking about a fiver a week in a village hall.
More importantly, we’ve seen friendships form, connections deepen and people find a place where they belong. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created together so far.
But sometimes growth asks us to let go.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the past couple of years has come through my exploration of Buddhism at the Norwich Buddhist Centre.
It’s taught me so much about impermanence, about not clinging to things simply because we love them, and about trusting the flow when something no longer feels aligned.
As sad as it is to leave the mill, we’ve simply outgrown the space.
So, with equal parts excitement and nervousness, I’m also delighted to tell you that we’ve found our new home.
From October all being well , we’ll be moving to Bayfield Brecks Business Estate, just off Cley Road between Holt and Cley.
We are signing a six-year lease imminently (with a three-year break clause), and we can’t wait to create something really special there.
We’ll have our own beautiful yoga studio alongside an outdoor paddock spaces, a new home for the Sauna, giving us even more opportunities to build community and bring people together.
Renovations are already underway. The painting has begun, flooring is on its way, and we’re taking everything gently as we have other summer work commitments.
We want to create a peaceful, welcoming space and continue the work we have started in line with the traditional values of yoga I hold dearly to my heart.
This move isn’t simply about changing buildings.
It’s about creating the foundations for the next chapter.
As a Community Interest Company, we’re passionate about expanding the work we do in the community, making yoga and wellbeing more accessible, and continuing to build meaningful projects that support people’s physical and mental health.
This year we’ve already been invited to some incredible events, including Wolterton Wellness Weekend where everyone loved aerial yoga, throughout the summer we’re at Wiveton Hall in collaboration with the incredible crew from Mysabar you will find us there Wednesday to Saturday offering sauna and yoga evenings until the end of August. All bookings can be found on line. In September I will also be joining the wonderful Albion Nights Wellness Weekend. You can book directly with Albion nights to join this special weekend.
I am following a lot of avenues to step back in to teaching much more and may even be popping up in Norwich soon so watch this space.
The more work I can get back to the more I can boost our funds to keep going.
Every booking you make at the mill and Wiveton hall will helps us raise funds towards completing the refurbishment of our new home.
So thankyou in advance.
Our regular studio timetable will continue as normal until we move and we have also started work to build a new website.
From October, Emma’s fitness/weights classes and Aaron’s Farm Fit sessions will be booked directly through their own websites. We’re so excited to hand that part of our client base over to them and support them as they continue growing their own businesses. We wish them every success with all their buisness plans.
Please speak to Emma and Aaron directly around this, so you can be guided smoothly through this transition period for us all.
The yoga team with the pilates teachers are aiming to remain together, and we truly hope you’ll continue this next chapter with us in to our new venue.
We couldn’t do any of this without your support.
If you’d like to help us right now, the biggest thing you can do is keep coming to your class, join us at Wiveton Hall over the summer, book a sauna or yoga session, and share what we’re doing with friends and family.
Every single booking helps us create this new space and we want to make it beautiful, nourishing and nurturing for all.
Like many community organisations, we’ve also experienced funding challenges. We recently lost our long-running Chair Yoga classes at First Focus after their funding came to an end and they sadly had to close their doors completely.
It’s a reminder that running community projects isn’t always easy, but it also reminds us why this work matters so much.
I’ve poured so much of myself into this journey because, for me, yoga has never simply been about the poses it means the world to me.
It’s about connection.
It’s about kindness.
It’s about community.
It’s about learning how to meet life with openness even when it asks us to let go of something we love.
The Water Mill gave us so much, and we’ll always be grateful for everything that has helped us evolve there.
Now though it is time to begin again.
We will keep you fully updated as we progress the renovations over the summer period and wish to thank you all for your continued support, we will try our absolute best to make this move as gentle and seamless as we possibly can.
with so much love
Clare and all of the team at I am the storm yoga
